SAGA Community Center and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania are partnering to create a new space in Montgomery County for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and other GSRM youth!
This monthly group will promote understanding and respect for all through education, support, advocacy, creative expression, and friendship!
The goal of this group is to provide an environment where diverse identities can be embraced without fear of violence, harassment, or judgment, and where LGBTQIA+ young people can feel accepted and empowered. Meetings are facilitated by trained staff and volunteers and will take place in-person at SAGA Community Center.
These programs are funded by grants and donations. There is no cost to join!
Youth Program Facilitator
Alexis (they/them/theirs) is a Sexual Health Educator at Planned Parenthood Southeastern PA. They also facilitate two LGBTQ+ youth spaces in Chester County, SPOT and Rainbow Phoenix.
They grew up in Montgomery County and spent most of their teenage years not having space to explore or learn about sexuality without fear or shame. They graduated from Penn State University with a B.A in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. It was during their time at Penn State that they became involved in the LGBTQ+ community and advocating for queer and trans students of color.
Today, Alexis is proud to serve youth through their work and provide the education, and spaces that they wish they had access to as a teenager! They are passionate about centering, and prioritizing the needs and voices of youth. Alexis's work as a sexual health educator includes providing comprehensive and inclusive sex education to youth and adults throughout Southeast PA.
In their spare time, Alexis enjoys crafting, watching animated shows, being in nature, and cooking.
