About the Event

April is National Poetry Month. Join us for a special evening of poetry with Joy Ladin. Joy will be sharing her autobiography in poems, talking about how her life, including her journey as a transgender poet. She will also share about how poetics have affected one another.

Joy Ladin, Gottesman Chair in English at Yeshiva University, the first (and still only) openly transgender employee of an Orthodox Jewish institution, has published nine books of poetry; a memoir of gender transition, National Jewish Book Award finalist Through the Door of Life; and Lambda Literary and Triangle Award finalist, The Soul of the Stranger: Reading God and Torah from a Transgender Perspective.
